Turn Off the Crazy Making

Refusing to make changes when things are falling apart is like running on a hamster wheel expecting a new path.

 

Toxic toad love encounters grab a hold quickly when personal boundaries turn sloppy or more simply, when there's no ceiling on the cray-cray.

 

Here are some tell-tale signs healthy love boundaries are no longer in tact:

 

• During the "getting to know you phase" repeated urges to dial 911 emergency have become real.
• With each date you've noticed how increasingly sharp your crisis intervention skills are becoming, in fact, bordering on exceptional.
• The love toad rarely asks anything about you (in fact you become misty eyed when asked "what's your last name?") 
• Your main activities as a couple are daily mud wrestles of power & control.
• A surreal "glazed over state" is your established baseline when in the presence of the love toad.
• The ability to think straight is no longer of interest and in fact, clarity has become downright irritating.
• You believe with just the right amount of unicorn magic, the love toad will demonstrate a powerful interest in getting to know the real you and finally reach the "what's your favourite colour" stage.
• Reacting to the love toad's daily drama has replaced your state of happiness with a state of hoppiness (and you're good with that). 
• In spite of the daily distractions of misery, you're obsessed with the dream that the toad running the show holds the secret to happiness. 
• Calling out the toxic love toad's chronic disrespectful behaviour has become too much of an effort. 

• Crusading to maintain some form of self respect has become just too much.
• Your own needs are not only swamped, but officially a misty memory.

If you've "check-checked" most of these tell-tale signs, know that when the love toad turned you on, the crazy making switch got turned on.  And if crazy making IS ON then know that love has absolutely nothing to do with the situation.  In fact, by that point it's just A Situation.   

A toad should not be running any show with the expectation of it having a happy ending. Power and control is not love, it's destruction.  And with that comes the call to action to Save Self and tap out on the toad.  Saving self is shedding the shame of allowing the repeated toad take-overs.  

Chaining ourselves to the illusion of love is like sitting in a prison with the key to freedom in hand. Searching for something that we already have is ludicrous.  Tuning into our authentic self awakens the power of the soul. Therein lies eternal love.  It's from that space we heal the part of ourselves that hungers for toxic distraction & destruction. It's from that space we turn off the crazy making and turn on the Soul Compass.
